Dear Friend,
Today is the 10th Anniversary of our blog. We can hardly believe it.
Ten years ago, we published our first post…and several weeks after that we received our first “Like”. Then a comment! We were hooked.
We started blogging partly as a writing exercise, and also to give our family and friends a break. We are one of Those People who point out camera angles or unusual lighting while watching a film, and we’re rarely silent about it.
Understandably, this behaviour is not everyone’s Cup O’ Tea, so we were encouraged to start a blog to share our opinions with Others, and let everyone in the room watch a movie in Peace and Quiet.
Blogging is a wonderful writing exercise, but it’s an even better way to meet amazing people.
People like you.
You’ve introduced us to so many things: the movies you watch, the music you listen to, the photos you take, the art that inspires you, the books you read (or write, or both), the history you study, the recipes you make, the stories you write, the encouragement you give, the travel tips you share, the philosophies you espouse, the adventures in your daily life, the couture and beauty advice (that make you look amazing), the poetry you craft, the explorations you recount, the items you collect, and all the other things you have taught us.
Blogging has been an incredibly enriching experience, because of you.
Thank you for sharing your time, and for all that you’ve given us.
Whoa, ten years! That’s a long time to be blogging. Great milestone. Wishing you many more years to come!

I know what you mean about being one of “those” people. 😉 One of the reasons I was inspired to start my blog is because I’d share my thoughts on films with friends, in life and on social media, and get little to no response. But through WordPress, I’ve found so many kindred spirits – like you! ❤

So you’re at 11 years? Did you think the time would go by so quickly? What started you blogging?
LikeLiked by 1 person
The time has flown by in all honesty. I put that down to regular posting (sans my 6 month hiatus this year) and following other blogs. I’m just as much a reader as I am a poster so it’s a two-way thing, and very enjoyable being part of a wide community.
I started blogging solely to highlight vintage French advertising when I first moved to France… then it quickly grew into showcasing international ads. It’s addictive 🙂
How have you coped with the changes WP have introduced over the past 10 years, in particular the recent blocks format?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Your site is so interesting – there are so many things that I had NO IDEA even existed!
As for the more recent changes in WordPress, I really struggled with them at first, and I resented them because I spent more time trying to figure out the block editor than actual writing. However, I can see some advantages to the new format.
How about you? How to you like the block editor?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Thanks so much 🙂
Re the change to blocks, I’m the same as you. Have got used to some of the aspects now but at times it’s still such a clunky system to work with compared to the ease and simplicity of classic.

Ten years of blogging simply means master of we all . You may be jack of none . But your countless experiences would be a bacon light for a new bloggers like us . Today I knew that why some people become important and the others lag behind . Ten years of blogging means 3650 days senior to bloggers who have started blogging to day . 3650 days senior again means a noble grandma of one of the finest art of the world called blogging . It further implies that during the courses of writing you might have used thousands of new words , meaning by mater of those thousands of new words . That’s why you are learned of we all . Our qualifications may vary . But I personally feel and think that you are more qualified than we all , new bloggers . Remaining in one profession might be compulsion for some one but having liking for a profession for so long period distinguishes the one from others . A distinguished fellowship is an honor in itself . Thousand of congratulations from my side for this great achievement of yours’ and thanks you a lot for continuing your blogging for us as such . Thanks !
