Lot 283, Charlotte Greenwood and Buster Keaton photo.
Dear Reader, you’re probably fretting about what to get us for our birthday.
Fortunately we’re not difficult to shop for, especially once the online auction invaluable.com commences at the end of this month.
Why are we excited about this auction? Only because approx. 1,700 vintage Hollywood items are up for sale.
Never mind that the auction features this dress, worn by Lucille Ball in I Love Lucy:
Lot 951: Lucille Ball signature “Lucy Ricardo” polka dot dress
…or this vintage Dr. Strangelove movie poster, direct from France:
Lot 88: Dr Strangelove Movie poster (1964)
Just look at all these great scripts!
Lot 456: All the King’s Men vintage original 2nd revised final draft script
Lot 458: The Harder They Fall vintage original revised final script
Lot 29: Dial “M” for Murder vintage original script
Can you imagine owning some of these great vintage scripts? We certainly can!
The invaluable.com auction will be held June 29 – July 1, and will start at 11:00am PST each of the three days.
“The three-day auction has a range of items from recent films like X-Men, Star Trek, and James Bond, to old Hollywood movies and their stars, including Marilyn Monroe, Clark Gable, Greta Garbo, Jean Harlow, and more,” say our pals on the Invaluable Team.
How fabulous is that?
Here’s the main link to the auction.
Now, please excuse us while we do a bit of shopping.
Disclosure: We were introduced to this auction by invaluable.com. We do not profit from this post at all – unless, of course, auction staff want to toss a vintage original script our way…
Oh, for a large sack of cash to drop out of the sky and crash through my roof! I’d get the roof repaired AFTER buying a bunch of auction stuff first, of course.

What an amazing auction! I can’t believe whoever owned these things wanted to give them up. I love Lucy’s dress and the Dial M for Murder script with the writing on the front. My husband would love some of these things as well. He is such a collector at heart. Thank you for the link, Ruth! I will check it out.

Oh yes, this auction is a little TOO amazing. Honestly, I am drooling over those scripts. Lots of great photographs and lobby cards, too.

It’s interesting – that French poster must be for a re-release, because it credits Kubrick as being “the director of 2001 A Space Odyssey”(1968) and “A Clockwork Orange (1971). Either that, or the French PR firm was very prescient!

Ha! Yes, the PR firm was probably very good, but not that good!

Yes, isn’t that Dial “M” for Murder script terrific? There are SO many scripts I want to buy. I don’t know if I can choose just one…or two…or five…

It’s a beautiful dress, isn’t it? It’s one of the more iconic pieces from 1950s Hollywood.
